Cheers to 2016!

How is it possible that today is the very last day of 2015? Time, you need to sloooow down.

2015 has been a very special year for me. It was a year appropriately filled with change, growth, and adventure. But, it also brought a little more stability to life than the past couple of years seemed to offer. As 2016 comes barreling towards us, I’ve been looking back on 2015, but also dreaming of what’s to come in these next twelve months. I’m not typically one for making resolutions (if you are, you’ll adore this “non-cliche” post), but I do love a good list. Here’s a few things I’d like to include in this coming year:

  1. Be creative! We were made by a Creator, in His image, and therefore were made to also be creators. This little blog has made the biggest difference in making me feel like myself again. Over the past few years, somewhere along the way, I got really bogged down with the need to find my BIG purpose in life and forgot how important the small things are. Cooking and writing may seem little, but they have brought so much joy and passion into my life.
  2. Get a second dog. Santa brought two of our nieces the most precious puppy, Rudy, for Christmas and I’m not sure I’ve ever longed for a creature more! Baby fever has not hit our home yet, but I am seriously sick with puppy love.

The most precious, Rudy.. I mean, who doesn’t need one of these in their lives?
  3. Balance. Life’s all about finding the right balance. For me, I feel my best when I’m healthy physically, spiritually, and mentally. So, here’s to longer walks, bigger servings of vegetables, more Jesus, and working hard all balanced out with a glass of wine, dark chocolate anything and resting well.
  4. Read more. Patrick and I recently got memberships to our local library and have become slightly obsessed with it. We realized how much money we were spending on books and then reading them once before adding them to the bookshelf to collect dust. And I really don’t like dust. Solution = free library memberships! Reading a good novel at the end of the day is as relaxing as Netflix, but somehow makes me feel way more productive!

My current read, because I can always use more Julia Child in my life.

Thank you all so much for taking the time to read my thoughts, ramblings, and recipes these past few months, not to mention those of you who have actually tried the recipes! It truly means the world to me.

Since I do love lists, here’s one more for you. The top 4 recipes from Stacey’s Stir in 2015:

  1. Maine Blueberry Jam
  2. Summer Salad
  3. Baked Chicken Taquitos
  4. Chia Seed Pudding Parfaits
